The Mental Health First Aid training course teaches people to spot the symptoms of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards support.
By choosing MHFA England training, you are joining England’s largest community of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®) and helping to improve the mental health of the nation. On your course you will gain the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of a person experiencing poor mental health, the confidence to start a conversation and the tools to signpost to appropriate support.
This training will take place across 2 days and will include group activities, case studies, discussion, and skills practice.
Becoming a Mental Health First Aider will give you:
• An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
• Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
• Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
• Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening
• Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix.
With MHFA England, training doesn’t stop when your course comes to an end. We provide continuous support for MHFAiders® – well beyond your initial certification – so you are confident, empowered and motivated to carry out the role.
You will get automatic 24/7 digital support through the MHFAider Support App®. This will give you access to exclusive resources and ongoing learning opportunities. Details of how you can access the app, which you will also need in the training, are provided below.
