Competent Climber

Course Aim

To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to enable them to climb structures using fall arrest systems and work safely at height in protected areas utilising available systems.

Course Contents

• Legislation for Working at Height.
• Risk Assessment Awareness
• PPE – pre use checks and fitting (Harness, helmet and fall arrest/positioning lanyards)
• Access ways – Protected
• Climbing Techniques unsing harnesses, lanyards, and fixed systems
• Awareness of emergency procedure
• Theory and Practical assessments

The course will involve elements of classroom and practical tuition

Aimed At

Personnel who are required to access height utilising fixed ladders with climbing systems. Personnel will either work from the ladder or transfer into a protected platform. Examples include: ladder access with Latchways fall arrest systems
