This reference list is to be used as an aid only. Please note that the detailed list includes UK legislation, Codes of Practice & guidance as well as European / British standards, that is NOT exhaustive, however it does detail many points of reference that relate to or associated with persons safety when working at height safety & in confined spaces. Please check with the detailed source of the detailed points for reference for latest information & further detail. European Standards for the design & testing etc. of working at height safety equipment (e.g. corrosion testing, test methodology etc.) are under a separate cover.

Equipment tested against a specific European Standard during the process of CE marking, to for example the European PPE Directive 89/686/EEC, will usually be done so via the harmonised standard for the country it is being tested in; such resultant certification is pan-European and not country specific.
Please also note that for the continuation of a CE Mark certification for certain products, additional quality assurance / product surveillance is required; e.g. for Category III (complex design) products of the European PPE Directive 89/686/EEC, additional quality assurance must be conducted in accordance with either Article 11A or Article 11B of PPE Directive 89/686/EEC from which an EC Declaration of conformity is produced.
